How to set up for an online TRE™ session

A few minutes of preparation means I can see you clearly and you can fully relax into the session.

Preparation

  1. Find a quiet place where you can have your session undisturbed.
  2. Make sure there's enough space around your mat for the warm-up exercises and for tremoring. Tip: lie on the mat and check you have room to make snow angels.
  3. Have as steady an internet connection as you can.
  4. Fully charge your devices, or keep them plugged in.
  5. Place your support items (blanket, pillow, water) near your mat before we start.
  6. It can help to have someone you trust and feel comfortable with at home, in case you'd like support during or after the session.

Checklist

  • Yoga mat to tremor on
  • Blanket, in case you start to feel cold
  • Water bottle
  • Pillow, if your neck feels strained

What to wear

Comfortable workout clothes and long pants, preferably light-coloured so you're easier to see on screen.

Positioning your body and devices

You'll need two devices: a laptop and a phone or iPad. Between them, I should be able to see your whole body and your face throughout the session.

Please turn off any background blur or virtual background, as you'll be moving about in front of the screen.

Full set-up: laptop on a chair beside your head, phone on a tall tripod at your feet angled down over your whole body
The full set-up. Laptop near your head, phone up high at your feet looking down over your whole body.
Laptop on a swivel chair close to your head, screen facing you so you can turn your head and see Delia close to your head
Laptop near your head. Place it on a swivel chair close to your head, so you can easily turn your head and see my face. It's nice (and helps your body feel safe) to know someone is there with you.
Phone on a tall tripod, angled down from above so your whole body is in view higher angle
Phone or iPad on a tripod. Position it so I can see your whole body, preferably from a higher angle looking down.
No tripod: phone propped securely on books on one side of your body, so your whole body and face are in view beside your body
No tripod? Prop your phone or iPad up securely on one side of your body, so I can see your whole body and face, and so it won't slide during the session.
